It is with great sadness we announce that Lloyd Otto has passed away September 12, 2013 as a result of complications from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Lloyd was born on July 22, 1922 in Achair, Russia and emigrated to Canada, arriving with his parents Jacob and Leovina Otto on February. 3, 1924. He grew up on a farm in the Old Kildonan area of Winnipeg and served with the RCAF during WW11, stationed at Topcliffe Base in Yorkshire, England. It was while in England he met and married his beloved wife Joyce (who pre-deceased him on April 14, 2012). After the war, Lloyd and Joyce settled in Vancouver where Lloyd had a successful career in the heavy equipment industry. He was a longstanding member of WVYC and served as Commodore in 1996. Lloyd lived a long life and remained strong, vibrant and social. He was an inspiration to anyone whose life he touched. Lloyd is survived by his son Dave (Heather), daughter Lesley (David), granddaughters Courtney and Kelly (Jordon) and great grandchildren Ty and Chloe. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
