It is with a sadness we announce that Lorne quietly passed away on November 15, 2021 at his residence in Lynn Valley Care Centre. Lorne was born in Drumheller AB on February 4, 1933. He spent the first few years of his life growing up in East Coulie AB, Silverton BC and finally Salmo BC at age 7. In 1961, he moved to Vancouver and began his career with Shell Oil as a Technician and eventually retired as Manager of Office Services in Toronto in 1984. After retirement he returned to the West coast and lived in West Vancouver. Lorne was a strong supporter of the Boy Scout movement throughout his life and spent many years with the organization. Some of his fondest memories are of the time he spent as a scout and a leader. Lorne loved to travel and went to many places around the world. He made many lifelong friendships throughout his travels, Scouting and his career. Lorne is predeceased by his parents Margaret Dorothy (McGregor) Avery and Ernest Edward James Avery, his brother Ronald Avery, his niece Patti-Reay (Stahl) Boyle, and his nephew Gordon Avery. Lorne is survived by his sister Jean (Avery) Stahl, his niece Elaine Stahl, his nephews Jamie Stahl, Gerry Stahl and Douglas Avery as well as two cousins, their families and many relatives in England. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Paul’s Anglican Church at Salmo BC.
