

Makoto Inoue Dec 21, 1925 - Nov 16, 2013 87, of Vancouver BC departed November 16, 2013. Born December 21, 1925 (registered Jan 1, 1926) in Yokohama Japan. Immigrated to Vancouver Canada in 1975, 'Papa', the loving father of 7 daughters (aka the 'Inoue Sisters'), departed peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was a proud owner of Sophia Bookstore, specializing in Japanese-English books and books in English on The Far East, the first of its kind in Canada, named after his alma mater Sophia University of Tokyo. A devout Catholic, avid golfer and a long time supporter of many classical music organizations, he was a bedrock of stability to his daughters, teaching them the importance of family unity & love of good food, wine & music. He is survived by his daughters, Nozomi(Michinari) Nakamura, Mana Powell, Yuki (Marc) Fournier, Tami (Kelly) Lawrence, Nana (Klaus) Umbach, and Nagi (Ron) Arnold of Metro Vancouver and Sari(Andrew) Pearce of Austin TX; their mother, Yoshiko Kobayashi; 14 grandchildren, Lenna, Daniel, Christopher, Alex, Mira, A.J., Manu, Luca, Brody, Zachary, Nicholas, Jacob, Maya & Ella; his sister Toshiko Higuchi and sister-in-law Reiko Inoue of Yokohama. He is reunited with his parents Yoshitoshi & Hisa(Otani) Inoue, his brothers Hiroshi (Sumiko) & Akira and brother-in-law Kaneo Higuchi. Family appreciates his personal caregivers, namely Keiko Takahashi for her 6.5 yrs of dedication and love. Funeral Mass will be held at 11AM Nov 21, 2013 at Christ the Redeemer Parish - 595 Keith RD West Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Nikkei Place Foundation.
