

GODOW, Manfred Karl Heinz. It is with great shock and sadness we announce the untimely death of Manfred Godow on the 5th of June 2011. He was born in Berlin, Germany on July 13, 1938 to Karl and Emma Godow. Manfred always enjoyed life to the fullest savouring boating, hunting, fishing, camping, traveling and cooking for family and friends.
After an apprenticeship as an electrician he discovered his passion in the elevator industry working at Otis in Berlin. After immigrating to Canada he established his own elevator businesses and then gave his considerable talent to international elevator product sourcing for Delco and establishing Eltec Elevator in Vancouver. A member and great supporter of the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local 82, he was a mentor to many elevator mechanics and he will always be remembered for his sense of humour, kindness and generosity.
Left to grieve his loss are his wife Maike, daughter Matina, son-in-law Rob and grandchildren Justin, Mariah, Shea and Dayja, and family Anya, River, Tiziano and J.J., as well as many dear friends.
Manfred, you will be dearly missed by all of us whose lives you touched with your kind-heartedness and support. May you be at peace now knowing that we will always love you. A celebration of life will be held on June 13, at 3:30 pm at the Holiday Inn at 700 Old Lillooet Road in North Vancouver.
