Mary was a very special lady, who along with her husband Chris, became a significant part of my life growing up in Simcoe, Ontario. They both enjoyed the outdoors, getting me involved in hiking and cross country skiing. I enjoyed looking after their garden while they spent many a summer in Lake of the Woods, Kenora, on their little piece of heaven, a small island just outside the mainland. Later I had the opportunity to share a visit with them and I could see what drew them there. They were instrumental in my attending University of Guelph, moving me up first year. Later Mary did my wife and I the honor during my marriage ceremony, of reading a scripture and Chris served as my 'best man'. Shortly after the birth of my daughter Mary and Chris moved to West Vancouver to be closer to family after Chris retired from teaching High School. They were both kind loving and compassionate community activist's, caring for others and inspiring many. Fond outdoor enthusiasts and bird watchers. Chris departed this earth in 2008 and I know Mary missed him dearly after a marriage of 48 years. Rest easy Dear Mary and watch over us all, I know you are finally at peace, rejoining Chris, hand in hand. You were two of the kindest people I have ever known. Thank you Jan for all the special attention you gave Mary over the years and during her final journey.
