Robert Manners McGuinness

ROBERT MANNER MCGUINNESS passed away peacefully on September 7, 2024 at the age of 77 in the North Shore Hospice after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. A lifelong resident of West Vancouver, he was predeceased by his parents Doris (née Manners) and Rolly McGuinness. Bob attended Ridgeview, Inglewood and Sentinel Schools before graduating from U.B.C and embarking on a 48-year career as a teacher. The majority of his time as an educator was as a Teacher Librarian at Graham Bruce Elementary in Vancouver and then Lions Gate Christian Academy in North Vancouver.

A lifelong lover of books, classical music, origami, and stories, Bob was always ready to share a tale over a cup of tea or coffee. Family stories were a favourite and he collected many.

Bob is lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years, Barbara; daughter, Meghan (Nick); son, Brian; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; his niece, nephews, & great-nephews; cousins and his extended family and friends.

Thank you to the doctors and nurses at LGH, VGH and the North Shore Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the BC Cancer Foundation, North Shore Hospice or a charity of your choice.
