Sawako “Sassy” Kobayashi Cousins (1962 – 2012)

We sadly announce that Sassy passed away peacefully Monday September 10th @ her home in Garibaldi Highlands after a lengthy spirited battle with Cancer. Sassy had her loving husband, Cuz, her mom Kazumi, her god-sons Isshin, Yamato & Ryoma Chiyasu + her dog Brandy all by her side when her journey ended. Sassy’s deceased father Akira, brother Kazumasa & dog Daisy accompanied her into the spiritual world.

A beloved wife, boss, aunt & friend, Sassy is survived by her husband Steve Cuz Cousins, mom Kazumi Kobayashi, brothers Kazuhiro & Masayuki + her 3 nieces’ Chinatsu, Sakura, Asuka & her nephew Yuki as well as numerous aunts, uncles, staff & friends around the world!

Sassy was born & educated in Osaka Japan where she operated her own Dental Clinic for several years before moving to Whistler, BC in 1997 to marry Cuz & become an owner of SPICY Sports Inc. Sassy always felt at home in the Great outdoors, she enjoyed skiing, hiking, biking & ice hockey. Sassy volunteered her services to help the Canadian Alpine Ski Team during the 1998 Winter Olympics in Japan. Sassy loved to help people & she had to complete every task she took on. Sassy’s Amazing Warm SMILE touched everyone she met!

Sorry for your loss. Wish I could have been there in person for the Celebration of Life. Thought of you often over that weekend. From what I understand she gave it a very good fight. Keep her in your thoughts and move forward. We'll connect down the road. My wife arrives tomorrow and Nanaimo will be home. Take Care, until then..Paul C

We were so sad to read about Sawako's passing. Whenever we saw her she was like bright sunshine always happy and excited to see the kids and hear about what they had been up to. I'll never forget the year we were neighbours and while I struggled with the newness of motherhood she always reminded me of what a miracle it truly is.

Thinking of you Cuz and of course Sassy's family also.
