Walter Stanley Pierce - March 20, 1933 – June 4, 2021
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Wally Pierce. Wally died in the ICU of Lions gate Hospital on Friday evening June 4/21.
Wally was the adored husband of Barbara, the much-loved father of Susan (John) Sherri (David) and Lianne. A beloved Grandfather of Michael, David and Elizabeth, Mike, Christopher, and Emily, Lisa, Scott and Tommy and step Grandfather to Brayden, Ashton and Leah. He was also uncle to much loved nephews and nieces and brother to his late sisters Doreen and Joyce and brother Noel. Walter Stanley Pierce was born in the city of Montreal Que, to Emily Beatrice and Stanley Pierce.
Wally attended Verdun high school where he was a popular student and an outstanding athlete, both in hockey and football. After High School graduation, Wally furthered his education by attaining a CA status at McGill University.
Wally married his high School sweetheart Barbara in 1955. He furthered his business career as Comptroller for Webb and Knapp, held throughout the development of Place Ville Marie (Montreal).
In 1962 -82 he worked with The Robert Morse Corporation, which in 1974 required him moving his family to Vancouver. In 1982 Wally joined The Bentall Group, where he remained until 1986 where he was hired as president of BCE Development. In 1990 Wally started a Real Estate Consulting Practice which grew in partnership with Devencore, a Montreal based company.
He was a family man who was proud of his girls and gave them his time, love and affection. Wally’s love for hockey was a lifetime affair, especially for the Habs!
Wally had many friends. He was a keen bridge player, an active member of St. Christopher’s Church. His love for travelling enabled him to see many parts of the world.
He worked on the Board of the Wood’s and Hecht Foundations where he formed avid friendships which became an integral part of his life.
The latter part of Wally’s life was spent in Hollyburn House West Vancouver. Here, he was able to express his joy for music, and to make friends with his new family -one which he grew to love. He shared this time along with his wife, Barbara to whom he was married for 66 years.
Our thanks to Karen Urquhart of St. Christopher’s Church and to the nurses Jessie and Hannah in ICU at Lion’s Gate Hospital.
In lieu of flowers a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society would be welcomed.
A private family celebration of life will be held on June 16th.

My sincere condolences to the Pierce family.
I worked for Wally at BCED and he was one of the most influential mentors in my career! At the age of 30 he believed in me and created opportunities that provided the foundation to my personal achievements. He even helped me find my business office space in downtown Vancouver! I was truly blessed to have worked with such a wonderful, caring man and I will never forget him.
Warmly and in fond memory,
Deborah (Deb) Louvier

My memory goes back almost 70 years when Wally and I were articled CA students with McDonald Currie & Co at Montreal.
I believe that we started work the same day and later attended McGill and together to receive our respective professional designations.
I remember Wally as an achiever , an engaging personality and with a good word for all that he met.
I wish to convey my sympathy and condolences to all the members
of the Pierce Family.
Farewell Wally and RIP.
