

She was a native of Morse and had been a resident of Lake Charles-Westlake area since 1953. AJ loved working with Hixson Funeral Homes as a Family Service Specialist for fourteen years before her retirement in 2004. She had held the record for top salesperson until her retirement. She and her husband "LJ" enjoyed living on the river and were always entertaining friends and family with lively fish fry's, and crab-crawfish boils. They were affectionately known as "Mama J and Papa J" by their grandchildren, as well as others. They met many years ago at a dance and continued dancing their way through life.
She is survived by her children, Gary J. Frederick and wife, Keiko of San Francisco, California, Sandy Stein and husband Mike of Westlake, and Gloria McGuirt and husband, Dr. Rick McGuirt of Lake Charles; eight grandchildren, Heidi Brenchley, Matt Frederick, Shylah Stein Guidry, Stephen Stein, David McGuirt, Lee McGuirt Quigley, Libby McGuirt Agerton, and Molly McGuirt; and six great-grandchildren, Henri Frederick, Emma Stein, Abbigail Stein, Caleb Agerton, Jett Guidry, and Levi Agerton. She is preceded in death by her husband, Louis J. "LJ" Frederick in 2013.
Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, August 28, in Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake. Elder Troy Worack with the congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Lake Charles. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Saturdayand from 11 a.m. until the time of service Sunday in the funeral home. The family would like to thank her primary caregiver, Amanda, as well as Terry Ann, Cathy, Judy, and Betty, and also to her nurse Melinda with Brighton Bridge Hospice for their excellent care of Mama J.
