

Anncie Maddox, 72, passed from this life on September 21, 2015. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Westlake and lived in Moss Bluff for 70 years. Anncie loved her husband Melvin and they enjoyed going hunting together. She absolutely adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. When it came to sports, she loved it, whether it be tailgating at the McNeese Football games, or watching her favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys. She loved everyone she came in contact with and was the “mellow among the rough”, and was truly a peacemaker.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Melvin, of 54 years, one son Melvin Russell Maddox of Lake Charles, four brothers, Sonny Thornton and wife Margaretta of Moss Bluff, Kenneth Thornton and wife Ruth of Moss Bluff, Mark Thornton and wife Darlene of Oklahoma, and Jimbo Barrentine of Moss Bluff. Also, surviving are four sisters, Ellen Verrett and husband Davis of Westlake, Faye Conner and husband Bob of Westlake, Linda Burnett and husband Glenn of Sulphur, and Brenda Prosser and husband “Bugsy” of Westlake. She leaves behind one grandson Charles Dustin Maddox and wife Delilah of San Antonio, Tx., along with three great grandchildren Devin, Sean, and Aubrey.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Virgie Thornton.
Services will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 11:00am at First Baptist Church of Westlake with Dr. Wayne McEntire officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake from 5:00-9:00pm and will resume on Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Westlake at 10:00am.
