Betty J. Halstead

Betty was born in Evans, LA and has lived in Westlake, LA for the past 46 years. She was born to Thomas J. Jarrell and Bessie Lee Craft, Betty was one of three children. She was a wonderful child, mother, grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed.

Those left to cherish her memories are children. One son; Chad Halstead of Westlake, LA and one stepson; Quin Halstead and wife Sherry of Livingston, TX, two brothers; E.L Jarrell and wife Sue of Sulphur, LA, Tom Jarrell and wife Belinda of DeQuincy, LA., two grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by parents, her husband James Halstead and one great-grandson Garit Morrison.

Betty worked with United Way for many years before retiring as the Director of Finances and she was a member of the Boulevard Baptist Church in Lake Charles, where she sang in the choir.

Visitation will be Monday, March 16, 2015 from 5 to 7 pm at Hixson funeral home in Westlake. The funeral service will be Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Westlake Memorial Park.
