He was a native of Beaumont, TX and a former resident of Vidor, TX, Buna, TX and resident of Moss Bluff, LA. Carol graduated from Vidor High School class of 1968. He was a US Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He served as a Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 86. He was a member of American Legion Post #407 and the United Steel Workers Union. He retired as a millwright from Carqill after 27 years of service.
Survivors include his loving wife, Cheryl Rougeou Carter of Moss Bluff; two sons, Jody Carter and wife Terrie of Silsbee, TX and Brian Carter and wife Amanda of Beaumont, TX; two daughters, Christine Torres and husband James of Lumberton, TX and Wendi Carter of Livingston, TX; five brothers, Ray Carter of Keller, TX, Wayne Carter of Vidor, TX, David Carter of Vidor, TX, Robert Carter of Korea and Tony Carter of Beaumont, TX; three sisters, Tina Hankins of Carlyss, Michella "Dottie" Ramirez of Beaumont, TX and Sue Adams of Trinity, TX; 17 grandchildren, Jacey Carter, Ashlie Carter, Brady Carter, Jamie Torres, Lauren Torres, Sierra Nichols, Kierra Nichols, Shawntae Sells, Jacolby Sells, Jadyen Carter, Lewis “Lewie” Rougeou IV, Graham Rougeou, Danielle Couch, Krista Shuler, Michael Shuler, Mallory Rougeou and Quinn Rougeou; 3 great grandchildren, MacKenzie Dean, Ryatt Couch and Levi Rougeou; two step sons, Rusty Rougeou and wife Denise of Moss Bluff and Andy Rougeou and wife Toni of Luling, LA; and one step daughter, Robin Shuler and husband Daniel of Anacoco, LA.
His funeral will be at 11a.m. Friday, February 14, 2014 at Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake. The Rev. Betty Northern will officiate. A graveside service will be at 2p.m. in Antioch Cemetery in Buna, TX with the Rev. Mark Rotramel officiating.
