

Dalton was born in Oakdale, La., and has lived in Westlake since 1956. She was a graduate of Block High School in Jonesville, Louisiana. She graduated from the American School of Real Estate in 1981. In 1963 she started working at Calcasieu Marine National Bank as a teller. In 1964 she began working for the City of Westlake where she worked as Town Clerk until 1975. Dalton then became self-employed, and assisted her husband, Harold at McMillin Plumbing with subcontracting, building and selling homes. In 1981 she became a Real Estate Agent, and worked for six years with Liggio Realty. She also spent time as a volunteer for numerous service organizations in Southwest Louisiana. Mrs. McMillin was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was known as a good listener, comforter, confidant, and world class back scratcher. Family gatherings were important to her, especially the annual dove fry, and family meal gatherings. She made all family members feel like they were her favorite.
She is survived by son Mickey McMillin and wife Gilda of Moss Bluff, daughter Jan Chelette and husband Ron of Moss Bluff, son Hal McMillin and wife Sue of Westlake, Grandchildren Kyle McMillin and wife Dawn, Stacy Goss and husband Damon, Julie McMillin, Shawn Peterson and husband Scott, Amy Picard and Lise Hellemn, Joy Munson and husband Chris, Kris Chelette and wife Sara, Marsha Palmer and husband Jake, Boone (Mark) McMillin and wife Fallon, Amy McMillin, Chris Acheson and wife Brittany, Patrick Duplechin and wife Jessica, and 19 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Bessie Welch, son Malcolm “Mackey” Reese McMillin, husband and father of her children, Harold Reese McMillin, second husband Ray Eggleston, and brother Alton Welch.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, from 4pm to 8pm, resuming Wednesday at 11am till time of service, all at Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake. A Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at 2pm with Rev. Charlie Willis officiating.
