Mrs. Davis was born on January 24, 1923 in Center, TX and lived in Westlake, LA for 78 years.
Mrs. Davis held many jobs over the years; caregiver at 14 for her mom and younger siblings after her mom passed. She picked cotton, worked in a bomb box factory during the war, cafe owner, caregiver for her husband until he passed in 1969; she worked and managed at The Fabric House for 30 years until she retired in her 80's. She loved gardening, sewing and planning sewing projects, and helping people. Her favorite activity was caring for and spoiling her children and grandchildren. She was a fiercely independent woman who instilled in her children a great work ethic and a desire for education. She was active in the church until she could no longer attend. She was a member of WMU at First Baptist Church Westlake where she had taught Vacation Bible School and had been a member there for many years. She was a member of the Gleaners Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Davis was welcomed into heaven by her parents; Norman and Florence Adams, husband Rufus I Davis, sisters; Norma Russow, Ruby Fountain, Hazel Doggett and brothers; Fane Adams and Fate Adams.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son; Rufus Isaac (Ike) Davis Jr. (June), daughters; Joyce Lynnette Davis and Ebbylee Davis Robertson(A.J.), grandchildren; Angie Snider (David), Amy Roller (Tom), Shane Robertson (Morgan) and Elaine Robertson and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Hixson Westlake on Thursday, April 14, 2022 from 11:00am until the time of service at 1:00pm.
Burial will follow services at Westlake Magnolia Cemetery.
