James "Brent" Fontenot

Brent was originally from Ville Platte and spent the majority of his life in Westlake. He graduated from Ville Platte High School in 1980. As a heavy equipment operator, Brent had a passion for hunting, fishing, and camping.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carlene Bernard Fontenot; children, Deidre Romero and Derrick and Shane Fontenot and wife Jennifer; five grandchildren, Colten, Madelyn, Lane, Mallory and Ryder; five siblings, Debbie Charlie and Craig, Henry Fontenot and Kelly, Susan Ortego and James, Luke Fontenot and Judi Marcantel and husband Brandon; mother-in-law, Rosa Bernard; step mother, Denise Fontenot; step sister, Aleah West and husband, Robert; his hunting companion, Molly; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; godfather, Wilfred "Uncle Shoe" Pitre; father-in-law, Leo Wilson Bernard; maternal grandmother, Eva Thompson.

The family will welcome relatives and friends at Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 beginning at 11:00 a.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. led by Deacon Fred Reed.
