Julian Lee Royer

Julian Lee Royer, 81, of Westlake LA., passed away May 6th, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Esterwood in 1934 to Lifford and Lillian Royer. Raised alongside of his brother in Westlake LA, he grew up playing basketball and loved playing for Westlake High. Following graduation he met the love of his life, Loretta Bruce of Vinton. Together they had 2 sons and one daughter and had 61 wonderful years of marriage.

Julian work for United Gas Pipeline from 1956-1999 during which he was a truck driver, welder and retired as a supervisor. He was a lifelong member of the Knight of Columbus and was a member and usher of St. John Bosco Catholic Church. Julian showed his love of basketball by being a coach and referee at the Westlake Recreation Center. During retirement, Julian could be found most days working in his woodshop working on any project that caught his interest, which he loved to give away to friends, but his lovely wife is still waiting for her swing.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Lifford and Lillian Royer, sons; Craig and Gregg Royer, brother; Luther (TB) Royer, brother in law; Ira Bruce. Julian is survived by his loving wife; Loretta, daughter; Sherry (Ronnie) Robertson, grandchildren; Shawn (Katy) Robertson, Heather (Eric) Taylor, Justin (Kirstie) Vacker, 7 great grandchildren, special friends; Paul, Rudy, and Patti.

Family will receive friends for visitation Monday May 9th, 2016 from 11:00-3:00 pm at Hixson Funeral Home, Westlake Chapel with Rosary at 2:30 and Funeral Service at 3:00 pm at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery.
