Jake was a proud Veteran of the United States Army having served 13 years. He then spent the rest of his career as a merchant mariner traveling all oceans. Jake had a great love of animals, caring for several dogs and cats through the years.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 39 years, Mary Beth McCandless Jacobs; daughter, Janice; son, Dana; siblings, Stewart Jacobs and Andrew "Andy" Jacobs; and sisters, Dana Stevens, Margaret Sauther and Judith Look.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dana Holbrook Jacobs and Janice MacGregor Crane Jacobs.
A gathering in loving memory of "Jake" Jacobs will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Sam Houston Jones State Park. (The family ask that you wear informal attire and to bring a chair if needed.)
