Mary Kathryn Estes, 73, of Sulphur, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at her residence.

She was born to her late parents, Prentiss and Constance Thornton on November 12, 1944 in Lake Charles, LA. She enjoyed crabbing and fishing, football, and loved reading her Bible. She was a member of Bellview Baptist Church for many years. She was compassionate about her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids, and loved getting together with all of them on the Holidays, especially Christmas.

She is survived by her three sons, Michael Estes and wife, Tricia of Westlake, Darrin Estes and wife, Vicki of DeRidder, Joshua Gibson of Sulphur; one daughter, Diana Warner and husband, Russell of Sulphur; two brothers, James Thornton and wife, Beverly of Sulphur, Bert Thornton of Sulphur; along with eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 36 years, James “Jimbo”Estes; her parents; along with one sister, Frances McNabb.

Services will be held at Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 2:00pm. Visitation will be at Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake on Thursday, February 22, 2018 from 5:00-9:00pm and will resume on Friday, from 10:00am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Westlake. The family would like to express a special thanks to Heart of Hospice for their loving care for their mother during the last month. To say you were a wonderful mother in law, mother to your children, grandmother,and great grandmother is an understatement. You were THE BEST!!!

You always were a pleasure to be around. You always had a smile on your face. I'm so Blessed to have known you.
