Throughout her life, including her working career, she faithfully committed her time to wildlife and habitat preservation, animal rescue, and compassion ministry for those who struggled with addiction and maintaining good mental health. She was a proud Master Naturalist who prided herself on maintaining native trees and plants, and you could always find her planting something new! Her unique perspective on life allowed her to find beauty in plants, art, bad situations, animals, and individuals that others often couldn’t see. This allowed her to build relationships and love people in a way that changed countless lives. She never met a stray she didn’t love, or a crowd she couldn’t quietly escape from.
Micky is survived by her daughter Kelly Marcantel, and husband Curtis, son Dan Peterson, and grandchildren Kady Marcantel and Raye Marcantel.
She was preceded in death by her brother Richard Swartz, III and her parents Joseph and Marjorie Swartz.
A celebration of Micky’s life will be held Monday, November 3, 2025 at Magnolia Baptist Church in Ragley, LA at 1pm. Visitation will begin at 10AM and will continue until the time of service.
