Nanette (Nancy) Orr LeTard passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of June 19, 2021 after ninety-nine and half years of a life well lived. Nancy was born December 17, 1921 to the late M.V. and Virginia Orr in Bastrop, Louisiana. She left Bastrop for Louisiana Tech, where she obtained a degree in education in 1942. Nancy married the late John M. LeTard in 1945, and the two eventually settled in Westlake, Louisiana. There, she raised her three sons and devoted twenty-six years to educating second graders, before retiring from the Calcasieu Parish School Board in 1978. She filled her retirement years with oil painting, bike riding, dominos, plenty of travel, and lots of golf. She retired her clubs just five years ago, at ninety-four years old. Nancy cherished her family and friends, but above all, she loved her church and her church family. Westlake United Methodist Church was her home for more than seventy years, and was, undoubtedly, one of her favorite places to be. She was keenly aware of Christ’s expectation of commitment, and served him diligently and enthusiastically ensuring that all knew her by her fruits – a true example for all to follow.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, John M. LeTard; son, Richard (Dick) LeTard; step-son, John O. LeTard; daughter-in-law, Mary LeTard; granddaughter, Marissa LeTard; parents, M.V. and Virginia Orr; and siblings, George N. Orr, James M. Orr, Virginia Ferguson, and Elizabeth Tarver.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Ronald LeTard and wife Pam and Bobby LeTard and wife Kathy; daughter-in-law, Audrey LeTard; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Julie Robinson Broussard, whose graciousness optimized the time Nancy was able to remain living at home, to West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital for its excellence in care, and to Stonebridge Place Assisted Living, particularly the staff in the Memory Care unit for the care provided and their immeasurable compassion.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Westlake United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 536, Westlake, LA 70669.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at Westlake United Methodist Church from 10:00 a.m. until the Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Entombment will follow in Westlake Memorial Park Cemetery.
