Sarah "Sally" Emmalyn (Peters) Henson

Sarah "Sally" Emmalyn Henson, age 87, of Westlake, Louisiana passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, September 30, 2025. Sarah was born on September 6, 1938, in Kilgore, Texas to Joseph "Mr. Pete" Peters and Exine Britton Peters.

Sarah was a longtime member of Bellview Baptist Church in Westlake. She enjoyed her plants, collecting teacup sets, oil painting, cooking, crocheting, caring for her cats, but she especially loved spending time with her family. Sarah had a huge heart for children and showed it by giving her time and money to charities like crocheting over 40 blankets for newborns for the ABC Pregnancy Resource in Lake Charles and collected items for Shoebox Ministries.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Dick, David, and Gene Riley, a son-in-law, Mike Combs, her parents, a sister, Sue Peters, and two stepsons, Michael and Keith Henson.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Sammy Henson; daughter, Exine Combs; son, Derek Riley and his wife, Desin; stepson, Gary Henson and his wife, Cheryl, stepdaughter, Connie Henson Allen and her husband, Jerry; 16 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Hixson Funeral Chapel in Westlake. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday with Bro. Gil Broussard officiating. A private family burial will be held in Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Jennings.
