

Leroy graduated from Broken Bow High School in Oklahoma in 1950, then went to Lake Charles, LA, and started to work at Olin-Matheson Chemical Co. He worked there until he retired, with exception for the four years he spent in the United States Air Force, with one year being stationed in Greenland.
In 1959, he married Betty Bagwell.
He leaves to cherish his memory one sister, Margie Johnson of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; nieces, Sandra Gilbreath of Oklahoma City, OK, Marsha Chandler of Greenwood, FL, Suzie Parker of Key West, FL, Narayne Roseau of Utah, Eloy Lewis of Orange, TX, Ravenna Dater of New Mexico, Kimberly Chandler of Florida, Annie Gilbreath of Oklahoma City, OK., Kimberly Moore, Kelly Murphy and Kathleen Pringle of Winters, TX; and nephews, Jack Chandler of Florida, Conner Chandler of Florida and Shannon Wiley of Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Dellie Lackey; his wife, Betty Lackey; two brothers, Eddie Mills and A.V. Mills; and four sisters, Jewel Edwards, Virginia Strickland, Ruby House and Geneva Gilbreath; along with special friends, Ronnie and Delane Whittle of Broken Bow, OK, Katy Johnson of West Lake, LA, Jack and Sandra Leggio of Moss Bluff, LA, Nita Faye Roberts of Westlake, LA and many other family and friends.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Ronnie Whittle, Shannon Wiley, Ricky Loving, Justin Wiley, Shane Leggio, and Christian Leggio.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake from 12:00 PM until time of services at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Beauregard Cemetery in Deridder.
