Mr. Burns was born on April 16, 1948 to Wilbert and Ruth (McKellin) Burns who preceded him in death. He was a proud veteran and officer in the United States Army. Doug graduated from the University of Florida in 1973 and loved Florida Gator Football. He spent much of his career working in Sales Management and various entrepreneurial endeavors, always loving a new challenge. Though he spent the past 21 years in Cleveland, he was a true Floridian at heart. Doug loved fishing, and kayaking on the water with his wife, raising many “big” dogs, and was an avid and talented woodworker.
Mr. Burns is survived by his adoring wife Sara (née Andre), son D. Paul (Elizabeth) Burns, Jr. of Plantation, Florida, daughter Kadi (Travis) Goertz of Long Beach, California and daughter Jennifer Peters of Rocky River, Ohio; Sister Barbara (Roy: deceased) Mulhall of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida; and granddaughters Olivia and Allison. Doug will be forever remembered and loved by his nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends whom he left far too soon.
An Internment will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery in Jacksonville on June 3rd at 10 am. Celebrations of life will take place in Rocky River & Ponte Vedra Beach.
