Following graduation from the College of Wooster (1953) and Honorable Discharge for his service in the U.S. Naval Reserve, Gene enjoyed a 50 year career as a leader in the Publishing industry followed by active retirement in California. He was funny - a wonderful story teller and always the idea man. In his later years he enjoyed writing song lyrics which his son Chris put to music. On this memorial page is a link to one of their songs “Everyday is a New Day” - a sentiment he lived by. He was fond of saying how he truly believed every year “....there would be ponies under the Christmas Tree….”
A private service with friends and family is being planned for later this Spring in Mt Vernon, Ohio where he will be interned with his parents.
