Homer B. Saylor

Homer B. Saylor, age 96, passed away February 1, 2014. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army and was a POW during his service in WWII.

A member of the Brookpark VFW Post, American Legion, and Barbwire Buckeyes, Homer was the beloved husband of the late Mildred (Batelaan) and loving father of Glenn and his wife Evalyn Saylor. He was a dear grandfather of Brett Saylor, Katie (Michael) Passalacqua, Amanda (Michael) Miklus, and Zachary Saylor (Fiancée Katherine Moore). An adored great-grandfather of Alexander and Matthew Miklus, Homer was a devoted uncle to many and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Homer and Edith Saylor and his brothers Quentin and Jack and his sister Marji Hurlburt.

Family will receive friends (today) Wednesday, February 5, from 5-8 pm at the CATAVOLOS-BERRY FUNERAL HOME 23040 Center Ridge Rd. Westlake where funeral services will be held at 10am Thursday February 6. Burial will be at Brooklyn Heights Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of choice.

Uncle Homer was one of the greats! We are so sorry for your loss and will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers. How lucky we were to see him last fall at his birthday party. He really was part of "the Greatest Generation"!

I believe I knew your father many moons ago when I worked at Perfection Stove Company at 79th & Platt Ave. I started off in the Payroll Dept, but was transferred to the Print Shop because I knew how to type! Our boss was Harold Aultman. I remember your father being a nice, kind man. My heart goes out to you and your family. I'm sure your Dad lived a full life in his 96 years!
