“Are you shittin’ me?!” James F. Harris, 81, died peacefully in his home on June 5, 2024. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Marcy Harris, his beloved wife of 50 years, Bunny Harris, sister Nancy Diersen and in-laws, Melvine Harris & Larry Smyers and his adored Pug, Cesar. Jim is survived by his brother, Daniel Harris, daughter, Brenda Harris and his cherished grand-dog, Piper.
Jim embraced life with enthusiasm and determination. As an Avon Lake High School graduate, Jim was especially proud of his team's Football Hall of Fame induction. He attended Miami of Ohio University where he had the opportunity to play spring football under Coach, Bo Schembechler which ultimately made him a devoted Michigan Wolverine’s fan. He & Bunny built a beautiful home for their family that he was so proud of in Sheffield Lake, where they resided for over 50 years. He provided for his family as a factory worker where over his career he was a Roll machinist, Tool & die maker and a Pattern maker. He took pride in serving as Union President for two different Locals during his career. Jim loved spending time with family, friends and high school buddies and enjoyed passing his time playing Dr. Mario and chess, woodworking, collecting coins and relaxing in his garden near the waterfall, particularly if there was a fire burning. He enjoyed traveling, never met a stranger, and was always intrigued by the stories of those he encountered. Jim was a fierce competitor in even the most mundane competitions, sometimes stubborn and always tenacious. Jim’s zest for life was contagious and inspiring. As he rests peacefully now, surrounded by the memories of a life well-lived, Jim's spirit lives on in the hearts of those he touched. And as his loved ones gather to celebrate his life, they find solace in the knowledge that his legacy will continue to inspire them for years to come. Finally, as Jim would say, "GO BLUE!"
