John Edward Victor, 75, passed away on August 1, 2025, in Elyria, Ohio. Born on January 17, 1950, in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. John lived a life marked by service, dedication, and deep love for his family.
A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, John served with distinction in Vietnam as part of the Headquarters & Service Company, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, 3rd Marine Division—known as “The Magnificent Bastards.” His commitment to his fellow servicemen continued long after his active duty. He was a Life Member of Elyria VFW Post 1079 and Amvets Post 32 and served as Past Commander of VFW Post 1079. His leadership and camaraderie left a lasting impact on the veteran community.
Following his military service, John built a successful career at Ford Motor Company, where he worked for 35 years. His strong work ethic and loyalty were hallmarks of his professional life.
John shared 55 devoted years with his beloved wife, Barbara Victor. Together, they raised two sons: John A. Victor (Veronica) and Brian Victor (Jacquie). He took great pride in his grandchildren—Brandon Victor (Chelsea), Justin Victor (Courtney), Tyler Victor, Alexis Victor, Olivia Case, and Allison Case—and found immense joy in being a great-grandfather to Landen, Hadley (predeceased), Raelynn, and Liam.
He is also remembered fondly by his siblings from Ohio and Pennsylvania and leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins who cherished him deeply.
An avid fisherman throughout his life, John found peace and fulfillment in the quiet moments spent on the water. Whether casting a line or sharing stories with loved ones by the shore, fishing was one of his greatest joys.
John was predeceased by his parents; his brother Wendell; and his great-granddaughter Hadley.
John Edward Victor’s legacy of service—to country, community, and family—will live on through all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those who mourn his passing. Semper Fi.
A Private Memorial Service will be held on August 8, 2025, Resthaven Memorial Gardens 3700 Center Rd, Avon Ohio.
