It is with much sorrow that we announce the shocking passing of Lauren Marie Hayes at just 42 years of age from a pulmonary embolism. Lauren departed this world suddenly and unexpectedly leaving behind family, friends and colleagues.
Lauren was born in Cleveland and raised in Bay Village, Ohio. She graduated from Bay High School and was a National Merit Finalist. She earned a Bachelors Degree in Economics from Northwestern University and later attended Duke University before graduating with a Masters Degree in Business Administration in 2009.
Lauren began working for Deloitte Consulting in 2004 and remained with Deloitte for 21 years until her passing. Lauren was Managing Director and US Divestiture Leader at Deloitte for over 18 years leading large divestitures, spin-offs and IPOs in the consumer products and retail industries.
Lauren was recognized by the M&A Advisor as an Emerging Leader in Mergers and Acquisitions and by the Women’s Bond Club as a Rising Star based on her leadership in M&A. She also received numerous awards and leadership positions at Deloitte related to talent development.
While working at Deloitte, Lauren met Chris Cox. A funny, smart, equally talented person, from a similar background who loved doing the same things she loved to do but more importantly would love her forever. They decided to share a life together and were married in 2013.
Lauren and Chris travelled extensively, visiting over 45 countries for work or fun with her favorite spots being Istanbul, Portugal and the Maldives. Lauren loved jigsaw and crossword puzzles, impractical shoes and her three poorly behaved cats. She was an avid cook but loved her Saturday morning breakfast with Chris at the Borderline Cafe. Lauren loved assembling exotic LEGO displays, and penned quirky cartoons and painted Bob Ross inspired landscapes.
Lauren was loved and will be greatly missed by her family, friends and colleagues. A celebration of Lauren’s life will be held at a future date.
