Margaret "Peggy" Viviani

Margaret “Peggy” Viviani Nee Usrey, formerly of Rocky River, passed away peacefully at her home in North Ridgeville, surrounded by family, at the age of 81. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Kenneth “Kenny” Viviani.

Loving mother to Kathryn “Kate” (Terry) Stone and the late Matthew K. Viviani. Cherished “Grammy” to Sydney Elizabeth, Tyler Matthew, and Londyn Victoria Stone. Sister to the late Carter Usrey, David Usrey, and Carolyn Usrey. Peggy was a supportive aunt and dear friend to many.

Peggy was born in Pittsburgh to Miriam and Warren Usrey on October 25, 1944, and raised in rural Poland, Indiana. From a young age, Peggy was a sports enthusiast who chose to study Physical Education at East Carolina University and Methodist College in North Carolina.

In 1970, she met her beloved husband, Kenny, at a Skyscrapers Club dinner party. Membership in this unique club was reserved for tall women, and at 6’1”, Peggy easily met the requirement. She made many lifelong friends there, one of whom convinced her to enter a pageant. She was crowned “Miss Tall Cleveland” in 1970—an honor she held very dear.

Peggy and Kenny started their family in Bay Village, Ohio, with the birth of their daughter, Kathryn (whom she affectionately called Katie), followed by their son, Matthew, a year later. The family later moved to Rocky River. Matthew was born with a severe form of spina bifida. Doctors gave him only weeks to live, but Peggy refused to accept that prognosis. She dedicated the next eight years of her life to caring for Matt until he lost his battle in 1987, leaving an unimaginable void in Peggy’s heart for years to come.

With the love and support of her husband, Peggy moved forward. She started her own business, Viv’s Secretarial, so she could work from home while raising her daughter.

In 2001, Peggy became a “Grammy” for the first time, and being a grandmother instantly became her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment. For the next 25 years, she never missed a day, attending every sporting event, choir concert, awards ceremony, and graduation. Her three grandchildren were her everything.

She also remained a devoted Cleveland sports fan, loving all the local teams win or lose. Her favorite place to be was in front of the TV on Sunday afternoons, watching her Browns with her beloved kitty, Chloe, on her lap.

Peggy’s wings were truly earned, not given, through everything she overcame in life. She will be missed but never forgotten.

A celebration of life will be held at Corrigan Craciun Funeral Home, 23040 Center Ridge Rd., Westlake, Ohio 44145, on July 23, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 6:30 p.m.
