NICHOLAS ROBERT KOVACS, age 72, passed away Monday, January 17, 2022. Beloved husband of 50 years to Sherry (nee Jewel); loving father of Kimberly Walters (Chris) and Niki Haag (Michael); Papap of Grace, Reagan, Kayla, Avi, Emily and Alex; uncle of Lee and Randy; cousin of Laura. Nick is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Clara and his brother Ed.
Nick attended Duquesne University where he earned both his bachelor’s and MBA degrees. He and Sherry married in the Duquesne University chapel. After school Nick served in the Army at Fort Lee, Virginia and also in the Army Reserves.
Nick was a kind and generous man. While he was quiet in his generosity, he didn’t miss an opportunity to share his pride in the accomplishments of his family. He was a great provider and enjoyed sharing his love of music, theater and travel with his family. Nick was also an excellent golfer, and enjoyed trips with Sherry to courses throughout the country.
Nick fought a hard battle with Parkinson’s Disease for 15 years. Although this disease took so much from him he never lost his fighting spirit or his sense of humor. He never lost his concern for his family, and his love for them was apparent in all of his days.
Come celebrate Nick’s life Saturday, April 2nd at 2pm in the Bay Presbyterian Church, 25415 Lake Rd. A reception at the church will immediately follow the ceremony. Our family will be wearing red (the red tulip is for Parkinson's awareness), and we would be honored to see our guests fill the room with red this day.
