With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Bob Dempsey. Bob peacefully departed this life at the age of 79, surrounded by his loving family on August 22nd.
Bob was the loving husband of Sandy for an incredible 57 years. Together, they built a life and family filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. He was retired from a long and successful career as a Mechanical Engineer, General Manager and President of various manufacturing companies throughout Northeast Ohio.
His passions included sailing and he spent many weekends on the waters of Lake Erie in his wooden racing boat “Orange Crate.” He was a talented craftsman who created intricate and beautiful pieces from every type of wood. His family and friends were fortunate recipients of his handmade creations, each piece infused with his love and care. Bob had an adventurous spirit and traveled often , creating memories that will forever be etched in our hearts.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandy; their children, Janet Karas (Michael) and Caron Potokar; his brothers John and Rick; his adoring grandchildren, Brittany Baker, Max Potokar and Charlie Potokar; and his great grandson Nikola Potokar. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Betty Dempsey and his daughter Nancy.
Bob’s legacy is one of love, dedication, and ingenuity. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, but his memory will live on through the many lives he touched. May his adventurous spirit, warm heart, and love for life continue to inspire us all. May he rest in eternal peace, sailing on tranquil waters. Bob’s favorite 10 words…“If it is to be, it is up to me” – William Johnsen
