Robert Emmett McCAFFERY of LaGrange, OH, Passed away peacefully May 22, 2018 at the age of 79. Beloved father of Valerie (Kevin) Honis, Lorraine (Matthew) Nunez and Donald (MyLinh) McCaffery. Cherished grandfather of Cameron and Ethan Honis, Morgan, Madison and Matthew Nunez, Evangelia, Caiden, Jordan, Nolan, and late Noah Trinh McCaffery. Loving son of the late Anthony D. and Anne (nee Moran) McCaffrey. Brother to Daniel (Marlene), Michael, Joseph (Janet), Ann (Don) May and the late Thomas (Veronica) McCaffrey. Robert was a proud veteran of the US Air Force, Air Traffic Controller and for 32 years was an owner/operator truck driver. He was known by many as "Cowboy Bob" from his air traffic controller days. Above all he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was very adventurous and loved flying his Cessna and shared the passion with his son. He also loved riding his motorcycle, snow skiing and jet skiing/boating with family. In his early days he was into skydiving and made 254 day jumps and an unknown number of night jumps. One day his skydiving group made an exhibition jump into a festival and when he landed he was put on the spot to give a talk about skydiving and he was so honored but surprised at how much he had to say after he started talking and how interested the crowd was. He had so much wit to him and made people laugh wherever he went. The few times he stayed in nursing homes he humored the nurses and staff and they would say how funny he is and that he makes their day. This well-loved, loving, humorous, giving man is now pain-free from his dementia that has been stealing his life and we believe he is now living joyfully in heaven. Family will receive friends on Tuesday May 29, 2018 from 4-8 PM at Holick Craciun Funeral Home, 23040 Center Ridge Rd. Westlake, OH. Funeral Services will take place at 10 AM on Wednesday May 30, also at Holick Craciun Funeral Home. Immediately followed by Interment Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Avon, OH.

June 11, 2018

It’s all clear now that I’m finally home
Losing my memory left me feeling alone

But now I’m pain free and I can clearly see
The one that through everything stuck close by me

She held my hand when all seemed grim
And lifted me up when I felt I couldn’t win

Despite my anger with this disease I had
And all the things I said which now I know were so bad

I felt her love though I couldn’t say
For only one who truly loved me would treat me in such a loving way

With all the pain she must have felt
And each day another blow to her was dealt

She persevered on and on each day
Trying to find the strength I could hear her pray

But now my loving daughter, all is well at last
And I remember all the love you gave me and showed me from my past

I know now all you went through again and again
And I wish I could have helped you change the way things had been

But most of all I feel blessed that in the life I lived
I had a daughter like you who gave me more love than anyone could ever give

I love you sweetheart, until we meet again…
