Ruth Evelyn Bugay Kirk

RUTH EVELYN KIRK (nee Bugay) of Rocky River, passed away August 19, 2013. She was a beloved wife mother and grandmother. Ruth was born March 3, 1926 to Ann and John Bugay. She was a 1947 graduate of Fairview Park Hospital School of Nursing and the U.S. Army Cadet Nursing Corps. She was an RN at Fairview Park Hospital through the late 1940's and was selected to set up and operate Fairview's first "Blood Bank". While working at Fairview Hospital, she met her husband of 61 years; Robert C. Kirk MD, who passed away in 2009. Ruth was an active volunteer in many organizations including PTA and Fairview Alumni Association. Ruth was the loving mother of Karen Kirk (Duane Gatzke), Karil (deceased) Frederick Ortner, Robert (Gina Giannini), and Richard (Nicole). She was the proud grandmother of Peter (Maya) Ortner, Katie Ortner, Cameron Kirk-Giannini, and Alexander and Samuel Kirk. She was the dear sister of Violet Bugay (deceased), Roy Bugay (deceased) and Glenn (Polly) Bugay. Family will receive friends (this evening) Friday, August 23, from 6-8pm at the CATAVOLOS-BERRY FUNERAL HOME 23040 Center Ridge Rd. Westlake. Funeral services will be held at 10am, Saturday, August 24, Rocky River United Methodist Church 19414 Detroit Rd., Rocky River, Pastor Paul Bennett will be officiating.
