THOMAS JAMES KILBANE, age 80, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2021. Beloved husband of Valerie (nee Davidsons); dear brother of Mary Ellen McWhorter (Marvin) deceased, Kevin (Louise) and John “Jackie" deceased; dear uncle of Sean, Megan, Kaitlyn, Kevin Jr and Anne Killgo.
Tom enjoyed many things. In his younger years, he enjoyed racing his corvettes and won 14 trophies. His favorites were his two 1967 corvettes.
He was astute businessman. He started his commercial plumbing business, Kilbane Plumbing and Heating Inc. with grit and drive. His company did numerous schools, hospitals, NASA, and large commercial projects in and around Cleveland.
He was one of the first to start the self storage business craze in Cleveland and the US in the early 90’s. He was the owner, developer and president until recently. He proved the doubters wrong, “No one will pay rent to store stuff away from home.” How wrong they were.
His declining health prevented him from spending time in Florida but he fondly recalls hiking down the Grand Canyon to the river all 3 times.
Tom will be remembered for his many achievements and personality. You could always count on his hearty laugh, big and robust personality, practical advice and straight talk. He leaves many wonderful and hilarious memories. Now I have to add sad.
To those whose lives he touched there will always be one Tom.
