Vince was born in Cleveland, the beloved son of Diane (née Pompeani) and the late Anthony Skerl. He was the loving brother of Julie (Bryan) Falk, adored uncle of Isabel and Violet Falk, and the cherished nephew of Aunt Toni Pompeani and Aunt Rose Pompeani. He was also a devoted cousin and loyal friend to many, and leaves behind a large and loving extended family who will forever hold him in their hearts. Vince was predeceased by his father and several aunts and uncles.
Vince’s life was filled with simple joys and a love for people. He was happiest when surrounded by family, friends, or anyone he could greet with a smile. Known for his warm personality and sense of humor, he never missed a chance to say hello and give everyone a big hug and kiss.
Sports were at the heart of his world. He loved Avon Lake High School football and had a special talent for keeping track of scores, wearing out many Sharpie markers jotting down the stats of his favorite baseball teams. He also proudly competed in Special Olympics golf, bowling, and weightlifting.
Vince’s favorite routines made him unforgettable: sneaking a Diet Pepsi from his mom when she wasn’t looking, “borrowing” fifty cents to raid the vending machine at the workshop, and enjoying a Wendy’s Frosty. He worked at the workshop and at the Holiday Inn, where his friendliness and big smile made him a favorite among coworkers.
He will be deeply missed because he brought so much love, laughter, and light to everyone around him.
