Anita passed away May 1, 2011 with her family by her side. She was born in Italy January 4, 1927 to Antonio and Maria DiRado. When she was 10 years old her family moved from Italy to Boston, Massachusetts where she lived until she married her soul mate, Ted. After honeymooning in California, they decided that’s where they wanted to spend the rest of their lives. She was not a fan of cold weather and that’s one of the reason she liked Hawaii so much.
Her greatest happiness in life was to be with her family. She looked forward to our yearly family trip to Maui where she could spend time with all of us, especially her grandkids. She referred to Jessica, Ryan, Michael, Nick and Daniel as her gifts from heaven. They meant the world to her and she meant the world to them. This past summer was the first time in 40 years that she was unable to make the trip. This closed a chapter in our lives that was hard to accept. Maui without Gramma will never be the same.
Anita was so unselfish and always thought of others first. She was a loving, caring person who accepted everyone. She taught us to live, laugh, love and hold close to our hearts the gift of family. She was a remarkable wife, mother and grandma. Her love will be greatly missed everyday by her family and friends. Fortunately, her spirit will live on in all of us as a source of comfort in our time of need. She is everywhere now. She is in our hearts, she is in our souls, she is in our dreams. She will always be beautiful.
She was many things, but forgettable is not one of them.
