

Arthel Ann Weibezahl of Westlake Village, California passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025 at the age of 94. She was born Arthel Kneessy on November 28, 1930 in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up in Rosedale, Queens. She graduated from Far Rockaway High School in 1948 and went to work for the New York Telephone Company. After marrying Robert Weibezahl, they lived on Long Island, first in Lynbrook and then settling in Rockville Centre where they raised their children, Ann and Robert. Once her children were grown, Arthel worked as the office manager for ophthalmologist Elsa K. Rahn. The Weibezahls moved to Westlake Village in retirement.
A lifelong Episcopalian, Arthel was an active parishioner at Church of the Ascension in Rockville Centre, and then St. Patrick’s in Thousand Oaks. She volunteered for twenty years at the church’s Mad Attic Thrift Shop. She and Bob enjoyed traveling both domestically and abroad, and she loved movies, the theatre, music, shopping for bargains, and the Dodgers (both Brooklyn and L.A.)
Arthel is preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her parents, Arthur and Helen, her brother Arthur and sister Helen. She is survived by her daughter Ann Durden (Hugh) of Germantown, Tennessee, her son Robert Weibezahl (Marcy Reed) of Westlake Village, grandchildren William, Katie, and Nick (Danny), a cousin, and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.
