When Art was only 8 years old, his mother, Dorothy, became seriously ill. Despite her illness, she was determined to care for her family and decided to cook dinner and bake a cake one evening. Later that night, she collapsed. On the way to the hospital — cradled in Arthur’s young arms — she passed away.
Some years later, Art’s father, Franklin, married Ruth, who had a daughter named Patricia, and the family grew.
While attending Cal High, Arthur participated in cross-country as part of the track team and spent time with his good friends Tom Roberts and Cliff Arnold. During high school, he met and fell in love with the beautiful Loretta. The high school sweethearts both graduated in 1960 and married on June 3, 1961.
Arthur and Loretta managed duplexes, renting to Cliff and Marilyn, as well as Mario and Norma from Chile, with whom they became lifelong friends. Arthur was a hard worker, holding down two jobs — part-time at a gas station and full-time for GTE.
Over their first ten years of married life, they welcomed four children into their lives. Their daughters, Janet, Carrie, Dorothy were all born within the first four years of their marriage. Five years later, their son, Christopher arrived. The family lived in Rowland Heights for sixteen years before moving in 1987 to a brand-new, two-story home in Moorpark, California.
While in Moorpark, Art and Loretta joined the Moose Lodge, where they met friends who would join them on annual vacations to Cancun and Laughlin. In 2000, they moved to Hemet, California, to be closer to Loretta’s parents and continued to enjoy retirement, traveling whenever possible, cherishing time with their children and grandchildren.
Our father passed away peacefully on September 5, 2025, at 10:45 a.m., surrounded by all his children. God bless his soul, and may he rest in peace — truly the best dad in the world.
Art is survived by his daughters, Janet, Carrie, and Dorothy; his son, Christopher; son-in-law, Phil; daughter-in-law, Marilyn; grandchildren, Whittnie, Brandon, Brooke, Jessica, Nathan, Matthew, Devon; and grandson-in-law, Josh.
Love You Always, Dad!
