Chact S. Chu, age 67, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 9th, 2019 at Barlow Respiratory Hospital in Los Angeles, CA. He was born on July 16th, 1951 in Taishan, China to Sun Wu and Yuk Kim Chu. He moved around the world growing up, leaving for Hong Kong in primary school, moving to Columbia after high school, and a couple years later coming to New York. Several years later, he reconnected with his high school friend Miranda Li and shortly after, they got married in 1977 in New York. He received his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Long Island University. Chact joined Paramount Pictures as a junior accounting clerk in 1972 and enjoyed a long and distinguished 41 year career at Paramount Pictures. Chact started in contract accounting, moved to financial accounting and finished in taxation. Along the way, he received many accolades, including the Chairman’s Award in 1986, and retired in 2014 as VP of Tax.

Chact was a loving husband and devoted father. His greatest prides in life were his two children, Karen and David. Chact enjoyed travelling, walking, reading, investing, and spending time with his family. Chact is survived by his wife Miranda, son David, brothers Sam, Richard, Harry, sisters Sue L., Sue Y., and many nephews and nieces.
