Dan Hugh Graves, 78, passed away June 24, 2020 in Thousand Oaks, CA where he resided. He was the son of Clayton Stewart Graves and Anne Simmons Graves born on July 10, 1941 in Amarillo, TX. His parents preceded him in death. He is survived by his son, Christopher S. Graves, of Glastonbury, CT, and ex-wife, Maureen Graves, the mother of his only child, from Henderson, NV. He is also survived by his sister, Susan Lee (Howard) Groff, niece and nephews, Debbie (Scott) Steinhardt, Michael (Pamela) Groff and Robert (Jodi) Groff. His significant other of nearly 23 years, Janice Lee Horton survives, along with her daughter, Jennifer Horton (Franco) Uccelli and significant grandchildren, Isabella, Matteo and Ian Uccelli, all of Miami, FL.
Mr. Graves attended elementary schools in the San Fernando Valley except for two years at the American School in Cairo, Egypt when his father Captain Graves flew with Trans World Airlines. He graduated from Reseda High School in 1959 prior to his military service with the United States Air Force. In 1968 he joined Rockwell International and their predecessors from which he retired after a stellar career of 31 years. During retirement, he and Jan traveled in and out of United States with many monthly trips Coast-to-Coast. His favorite place was Kapaa, Kauai, Hawaii where they visited annually along with the other islands.
Because of the COVID 19 restrictions, a memorial will be planned at a future date and his ashes interred in the Topatopa Mountains near the Santa Paula Ridge and in his beloved Kauai, HI. Memorials may be made in his name to one’s favorite charity.
