Born to Patricia and Calvin Camp on May 9, 1957, in Van Nuys, California, Dave lived a life defined by dedication, achievement, generosity, and an enduring love for family and friends.
Dave graduated from Grant High School in the San Fernando Valley in 1975, where he distinguished himself as one of the school's most accomplished basketball players, earning MVP honors and recognition on the Third Team All-LA City during his senior year. He continued his athletic career at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, where he played basketball while earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He later received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern California, laying the foundation for an exceptional career in finance and business leadership.
Dave's distinguished professional career spanned more than three decades. From 1995 to 2015, he served as Senior Vice President of Finance and Operations for Warner Bros. International Television. In 2016, he became Chief Financial Officer of the Motion Picture Industry Pension & Health Plans, a role he held until his retirement in the fall of 2024.
While Dave was deeply proud of his professional accomplishments, nothing brought him greater joy than his family. He shared twenty wonderful years with his wife, Tricia, his partner in every sense of the word. Together they built a life filled with travel, concerts, sporting events, quiet evenings, and countless cherished memories.
Dave was a devoted father to his three daughters, Erin, Tara, and Meaghan, and treasured every opportunity to spend time with them. He also shared a close bond with his brother, James, and niece, Lucia, creating many happy memories together over the years. His love of family expanded with the next generation as a proud grandfather to August, Harlow, Crosby, Leighton, Sterling, and Laurel. Whether attending sporting events, reading over FaceTime, or sharing his love of tennis, Dave delighted in every moment spent with his grandchildren and took immense pride in each of them.
He also wholeheartedly embraced Tricia's family as his own, sharing a close and loving relationship with his stepchildren, Amy Warden (husband Newby) and Jonathan Losman (wife Zulaikha), and was grateful for the family they built together.
Beyond his devotion to family and career, Dave approached life with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a passion for the things he loved. A lifelong tennis enthusiast, he found joy both on the court and from the stands, or from his favorite brown leather chair. A loyal Dodgers and Lakers fan, he rarely missed an opportunity to watch a game.
Dave also cultivated a deep appreciation for wine. More than a collector, he was a passionate student of the world's great wine regions, always eager to learn, share his knowledge, and connect with fellow enthusiasts. This passion led him to become an owner of The Wine Box, a unique storage facility that became far more than a business. It was a gathering place where friendships were forged, stories were shared, and a community grew around a common love of wine.
Music was another lifelong passion. His tastes spanned generations and genres, though the Grateful Dead provided much of the soundtrack to his life. Whether listening at home, attending concerts, or playing his guitar, Dave found joy, connection, and inspiration through music.
Dave will be remembered for his warmth, sharp wit, unwavering loyalty, competitive spirit, and remarkable ability to connect with people. He possessed an extraordinary memory and an inquisitive mind, always eager to learn and share what he discovered. He was a trusted friend, mentor, and colleague whose presence enriched every gathering.
His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the friendships he nurtured, and the many lives he touched. Though he left the world with adventures still on his bucket list, those who knew and loved him take comfort in knowing he lived fully, loved deeply, laughed often, and embraced every chapter of life with gratitude. His was a life rich in family, friendship, music, travel, wine, and unforgettable experiences.
Though Dave is no longer with us, his spirit endures in the stories he told, the lessons he shared, the family he adored, and the friendships he cultivated.
Well played, Dave. We miss you dearly and will love and remember you always.
