June 10, 1935 to June 25, 2013
Doug was born in Goshen Indiana to George & Ethel Naylor. He was preceded in death by his brother Dick and his sisters Evelyn and Eileen. He attended Goshen High School where he was quarterback of the football team and ran track. He served in the U. S. Army and graduated from Ball State College.
He was married to his wife Pat for 57 years. He was blessed with three children: Kristy (Kevin), Lori Ann, Jeff (Joanie) and five grandchildren: Matthew (Allie), Jeff, Justin, Anna Marie, Jessica and a great grandson Evan.
Doug was a member of the Conejo Valley Fly Fisherman’s Club and Westlake Village Men’s Golf Club. He delivered Meals on Wheels and volunteered at the California Wildlife Center. One of his greatest passions was fly fishing. The family would like to share a quote from "A River Runs Through It", by Norman Maclean.
“Like many fly fisherman in Western Montana where the summer days are almost Arctic in length, I often do not start fishing until the cool of the evening. Then in the Arctic half-light of the canyon, all existence fades to a being with my soul and memories and the sounds of the Big Black Foot River and a four-count rhythm and the hope that a fish will rise. Eventually, all things merge into one a river runs through it.”
A private family service will be held at a later date.
