Earl was an avid golfer, tennis player, fisherman, skier and world traveler. His family will treasure their many years of memories at their mountain home in Shaver Lake, CA. He rarely missed a sporting event that his children participated in, and often attended the many activities of his grandchildren. He was a man not great in stature, but impressive in quiet strength; a life-long Catholic whose faith and love of family sustained him in the end.
Earl was born on June 13, 1936 in Pittsburgh, PA, the fifth of seven children; four boys and three girls. After a two-year service in the army at age 18, he got an early start in the restaurant business. After many successful years with Howard Johnson Restaurants and Motor Lodges, he then became a partner in one of the largest franchises of Red Robin Restaurants, located throughout Southern California. After its sale in 2007, he enjoyed his retirement golfing, traveling, and fishing at Shaver, and even attending quilt shows with Jane.
Earl considered his greatest success, however, to be his 58-year marriage to his loving wife and childhood sweetheart Jane, and his crowning achievements their 5 children, spouses, 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He will be lovingly remembered by all.
A Memorial Service will be held at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Mortuary on Saturday, February 7th at 2:00 p.m.
