Ester Rhodes was born June 18, 1946 to the late Joanna Martin Blanton and Ed L. Smith in Keo, Arkansas. She was a strong believer in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She received her education at Gartrell High School in England Arkansas.
Ester attained various vocational skills which led to the creation of E’Lee’s Domestic Services and later E.J.’s BBQ. In addition, she provided care for mentally and physically disabled children. For the last 4 ½ years, Ester worked as a cashier at Albertson’s grocery store.
Ester was a fun loving person. She always had a smile on her face. She had an undying love for gardening, traveling, reading, and antique shopping, but above all she loved her family and friends. She married her high school sweet heart, the late Joseph L. Rhodes in December 1965. They have three beautiful children: Yevette, Corey, and Sheronda. She was expecting her first grandchild, Cambria Elliana in late January 2012.
Ester is survived by five sisters, twelve brothers, and a host of brother/sister in laws, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
