Eugene was born on June 5th, 1926, in Chicago Illinois, from Italian immigrant parents, Nicola and Teresa, the third born of seven children. He moved west with his beloved wife, Mary, in 1962, and in 1967 they were one of the first families to settle in Westlake Village. Gene, a proud WWII veteran, loved his family, golf, poetry and English literature.
He earned his masters degree in English Literature at DePaul University in Chicago, and taught English and journalism for more than 40 years. His passion for writing also brought him into areas as editor of the newspaper Enterprise, managing editor of IFF magazine, as well as an accomplished author, having written a novel, and a biography on the life of Frankie Carle, a legendary pianist of the Big Band Era.
His love of golf led him to coaching and serving as president of the Westlake Village Men's Golf Club.
His greatest joy was spending time with his family, and is survived by his wife, Mary, 5 children, Penny, Gene, Jane, David and Jill, and 7 grandchildren, Sarah, Crista, Jaz, Molly, Jackson, Miles, and Sophia. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and a loyal friend. He will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.
