Frank E. Shaver

Frank was born on January 11, 1913 in Normal, IL, to his mother, Helen, and his father, E.L. Frank grew up in Gibson City, IL, along with his younger siblings, Jean Alice and Robert. As a young man, Frank excelled at all sports, especially golf and tennis, which he would follow up and play throughout the rest of his life. Frank attended the University of Colorado, becoming a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He then went on to work at Coca Cola and as a contractor before joining the family automobile business. Frank owned and operated Shaver Pontiac and Shaver Preferred Motors in East Chicago, Hammond, and Highland Indiana for many years before retiring to Palm Desert, CA. Once retired, Frank became an avid follower of the stock market, of which he enjoyed greatly and became quite proficient. Frank was an active member of Marrakesh Country Club in Palm Desert, where he served on many committees and spent time with his dear wife Bette along with his family and friends. Frank’s Catholic faith brought him much joy and happiness throughout his life.

Frank was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Marjorie (Bette) Shaver (nee Ostrander) in 2006; his son-in-law, Matthew Beemsterboer, and daughter-in-law, Melissa Shaver. He is survived by his four children: Judi Shaver Beemsterboer, Peter Shaver (Allyne), Michael Shaver, and Dwight Shaver (Renee Larson), as well as 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews, who have great memories of “Uncle Frank”, also survive him.

Frank Shaver was a proud man and the true definition of a gentleman. Frank was a loving and devoted husband and father, as well as a successful businessman who provided a powerful example of a life well lived to all that knew and loved him.

A Prayer Vigil will take place at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks-Griffin Mortuary in the Chapel of the Oaks on Monday, August 6th from 6-8pm, located at 5600 Lindero Canyon Road, Westlake Village, CA. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 7th at 10am, located at 32032 W. Lindero Canyon Road, Westlake Village, CA. The burial will take place at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park on Wednesday, August 8th at 10am located at 5600 Lindero Canyon Road in Westlake Village, CA.
