

Frederick James Roth passed away peacefully on November 21, 2015 at Kaiser Hospital Woodland Hills, CA . Fred was recently diagnosed with advanced stage lung cancer which was further complicated by a pre-existing heart condition. He was 78 years old.
Fred is survived by his wife, Deanna; son, Christopher; daughter-in-law Michelle; granddaughter, Kiersten; son-in-law, Christopher Bernhardt; and grandson, Randy Barker who all reside in Ventura County, CA. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Roth-Bernhardt.
Fred was born in Euclid, OH to Herman and Myrtle Roth. They moved to Burbank, CA in 1945. He graduated from John Burroughs High in 1955 where he founded the Instrumental Music Association as a student and was active in helping to organize class reunions. He attended Glendale College followed by UCSB with a degree in education(mathematics) while active in Sigma Phi Sigma and Lambda Chi Alpha fraternities. He met his loving wife, Deanna, at UCSB and married in N.Hollywood in 1960. The following year they settled in Thousand Oaks, CA. Fred was a teacher in LAUSD and Pierce College for several years. He received a masters degree in education from CSUN.
Fred was a passionate enthusiast in numerous hobbies including classic automobiles, antique music machines, coin operated entertainment, and carousel art. He received several recognitions for his accomplishments in desktop publishing, woodworking, car show organization (JD Power Award for the CLU Father’s Day Car Shows), along with automotive restoration awards( Pebble Beach Concours, Amelia Island Concours, and many more).
A celebration of Fred’s life is scheduled for 10am Saturday December 19, 2015 at Pierce Brothers Memorial Park located at 5600 Lindero Canyon Rd in Westlake Village, CA.
