Gregory James Kokenis of Thousand Oaks, CA, passed away suddenly following a heart attack on April 28, 2024, at the age of 54. He was born on November 24, 1969, in Oak Park, CA. In his childhood, Greg excelled in several sports including football and soccer. He graduated from Oak Park High School in 1987, eventually starting his own contracting business which he ran for over 30 years.
Gregory was a devoted, loving husband to Carrie, and his two boys, Ryan (21) and Nicholas (19) were his entire world. He loved coaching every sport they played and was so proud of his family.
Greg was always trying to make the world better for the people around him – whether he was improving a physical space with his tile work, making a delicious meal to share for every football game and holiday, or planning a neighborhood block party – he created the space and the opportunity to make beautiful memories which will last our lifetimes.
Gregory is survived by his parents, James and Ruby Kokenis; older brother, Louis, (Maggie) younger brother, Kevin, (Sierra) whose memories, adventures, and inside jokes will hold special places in their hearts.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on May 10, at Pierce Brothers Memorial Park at 5600 Lindero Canyon Rd. in Westlake Village.
