Charlotte,
I was a neighbor of your mother and Paul. We met early on when she became an important part in Paul's life and kept in touch for a while. We moved to La Quinta and our ways parted. I like to express my condolences to you and your family. She gave Paul a wonderful life and shared so many great travel stories with me. Paul adored her and she made every holiday and birthday special for him. A remarkable women.

My wife Orlene and I first met Ilse and Paul Keating some twenty years ago at a local restaurant that we frequented on Tuesday's at breakfast. Orlene and I and our pal Ernie did this every week. One day this lady (Ilse) came up to us and said "hi" and announced that she and Paul would like to join our group! We were a bit surprised but agreed. Ilse was never shy is the message.
   For the next many years we continued to have these Tuesday meals together and try to solve the world's problems. Until Paul died in 2008. Then there were four. Then three, two and now one. We all enjoyed each other and the two ladies, especially, talked travel and TV stuff while Ernie, Paul and I mostly did soldier talk (we were all Army vets) and sports and other guy things. For several years the group was down to Ilse and me.
   I came to know Ilse pretty well. I am an historian and a counselor and I like to listen especially as Ilse told me about her early life in Europe and her life in America. She was candid, even graphic at times and, I thought, highly interesting. She was devoted to her family and to travel. At times she would have reservations about things going on in the family and her role in this. On several occasions I offered her advise about being more accepting and less critical. She did not accept such advice easily but did respond at times with growth, Her habits are known to all and I shall not repeat them except to note that her organizational skills were excellent and usually resulted in satisfactory outcomes. I was delighted once a while back that she wanted to garden in her new apartment by planting a tree! Not any tree and not a small tree. After considerable exploration it got done and that tree is still outside her kitchen window and doing well thank you. So I shall say good by for now old pal, see you soon. Stan Bowers

Charlotte, your mother was a beautiful woman. I'm so happy I got to spend a little bit of time with her. Oma will be greatly missed!

It was a pleasure meeting your mom, I am so glad she is at peace now!! You are a loving daughter charlotte, you really honored your mother. Love you.

Charlotte, we are sorry for your loss, our thoughts and prayers are with you.  Be comforted in knowing that your Mother is a peace now with no pain.  She is reunited and hanging out with her family and friends that went before her.  She is in good hands.

Ilse,you had some of the most amazing stories about your life that I was delighted to enjoy. I wish I had been able to spend more time with you.I know you are in heaven sharing those wonderful times with your family there. It was truly an honor to have known you.

Ilsa, you loved to travel and see the world! You also raised a beautiful and caring daughter! Your long and lovely letters will be remembered, a lost art these days. You were a great friend to my mom, Eunice who will meet you at the pearly gates!

I had the privilege of getting to know Ilse a few years ago as her "computer helper". She had written down endless memories and wanted them saved forever on her new computer. I always enjoyed our "training" times which often turned into visiting times. She was a true "lady of ladies" and I am grateful she let me peak into her life and times through her stories.

Aunt Ilse was an amazing lady who typed me long letters by using her typewriter. Quite amazing since many people today use computers. I will all of her letters, cards and phone calls and will cherish all.  I will miss Ilse and all the conversations we had. Rest in heaven and say hello to family who are gathered by you.

I am so sorry for your loss.  I met Ilse a few times when she and Charlotte joined my daughter and I for high tea in Santa Barbara.  We had such a lovely time and it was obvious that she so loved her daughter.  May you rest in peace lovely lady.

Ilse, your wonderful sense of humour, your love of life and your ability to make the best lemonade out of some of life's lemons are all things Gerard and I will cherish and remember about you. We consider ourselves lucky to have known and spent time with you and Paul. Your legacy to your daughter, Charlotte is one of warmth, kindness and humour. Charlotte lost her beloved mother and we lost an aunt whom we loved and admired.  We will miss very much our many chats reminiscing about times past, travels to interesting places, family and friends. Ilse had a gift of overcoming adversity and lived her life to the fullest; she was kind and caring.  She had a strong bond with her daughter whom she loved dearly.  We miss her terribly.

Ilse, now you will be sharing your wonderful personality and humor with everyone in heaven!  We have treasured our friendship with Ilse since the 1990's when we met in a parking lot and discovered we lived close to them and shared a love of traveling.  We ventured together to New Orleans and had the most delightful time, mostly trying to keep up with them.  Many lovely dinners and visits.....and memories of a truly remarkable woman.  She leaves a legacy for all of her family to cherish forever.  We love you and thank you for sharing your friendship and love with us.

Ilse, you were the sweetest mother.  You and Charlotte had such a loving relationship.  Knowing Charlotte for the past 30 years, I was lucky to have met you.  You were always so kind to me too.  You will truly be missed but will be forever in my heart.

I only met Ilse once. Her daughter had a candle party and before the guests arrived we talked at length about her furniture and her deep love for Charlotte. I remember how happy she was and how her bright eyes lit up when she talked.  It didn't take long to draw a conclusion that she was a good woman who has something to say.  Im sure if we had the time that day she would have shared life stories as proof of her character. I am sorry Ilse is gone. I grieve for Charlotte, all her family members.  And for her friends that were lucky enough to know her better then I.

We were deeply saddened to hear of your mothers'  passing. She was such a loving, giving, and caring soul. I will cherish the time spent with her during Trout Derby at Cachuma and at my dad's memorial.  Both Alice (mom) and I send our love.

You will be missed "Sweet Lady". Thank You for your friendship and our memories. You will forever be in my heart.

I met Ilse about 30(+) years ago when we both worked at Bank of America together.  We worked together for many years and then stayed in touch up until she passed away.  She was a wonderful friend and the sweetest person I've known.I looked forward to her Christmas letters every year to let me now where she'd been and what world travels she had been on.  I loved her and admired her and will miss her dearly.

 We met Ilse, Paul and Margaret in 1998 on a cruise that went to Australia and New Zealand.  We were on a land program before the cruise with a small group.  We developed a wonderful friendship that led to another cruise to South America in 2000 and many visits. We were always happy to get Ilse's letters written on her word processor and many times included pictures! She always sent us cards for our anniversary and birthdays. She was a wonderful friend and a great lady. We will miss her!
