

At the age of 92, Dr. Jalal Moghaddas passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on December 30th, 2022. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Fereshteh Samedi, his eldest daughter Dr. Shadi Moghaddas and her two children Niki and Niloufar, and their father Dr. Hassan Golchini. And his youngest daughter Dr. Nima Moghaddas and her husband Ron Morgan, and two children, Cyrus and Alexandria Morgan.
Born in Hamedan, Iran, Jalal was one of four beloved brothers, whom he was very close to. He joined the army and proceeded to become a decorated colonel during the Reza Pahlavi's reign. Simultaneously, Jalal graduated from University of Southern California, in 1972 with his PhD in Business Administration. After retiring from the army he became a full-time professor in Political Science. He has authored many books on political theory and has held highly esteemed posts in Iran, both in the public and private sectors. He migrated to the United States full time in 2003, where he enduldged in retirement by looking after his grandchildren, Niki and Nilo, traveling with his beloved wife, gardening, and reading. Eventually, he settled in California to be close to family and to cultivate long lasting friendships in the Thousand Oaks area. He was well known for political conversations and backgammon games.
On January 5th, 2023 a private celebration of life was held amongst his family and friends.
